Wallpaper Week 37/2026
Howdy
As I have mentioned in the previous Wallpaper post, I spent some time with my family on the island of Kaua’i. We heard from some locals, that there is a beach in Poʻipū where the sea turtles leave the ocean behind in the evening to crawl up the beach to rest. They don’t care about the people on the beach. They just lay down and rest. Luckily, there is always a Ranger to place some traffic cones in a wide circle around the sea turtles to protect them from people who like to get close for a selfie. But there are also a lot of people watching those giants with admiration and respect without getting too close to the resting creatures.
We were told that during the pandemic (remember?), the turtles started to come in the evening to rest on the beach. And they continued this ritual ever since. It’s beautiful to watch IMHO. When the darkness sets in, there will be more turtles. I went back to the beach in darkness, and there were around 20 turtles in the sand. Since it’s not permitted to take pictures with a flash, I was unable to take any more pictures of this larger group. The Ranger had a red light that helped us see the turtles resting. Nature can be really beautiful.
About the Image
The image was taken with my iPhone 17 Pro Max. I used Lightroom on my Computer to work some image magic and fix the exposure and contrast. I’ve tried to keep the colors as natural as possible with the sun hiding behind some clouds.
