Wallpaper Week 35/2026
Howdy
At the beginning of August ‘26, I spent some time with my family on the island of Kaua’i. What a beautiful place on earth. It’s one of the smaller Hawaiian islands, and it’s the oldest of the archipelago. The whole island is lush green, and the temperature is warm and humid. There are almost always clouds stuck on the mountain tops.
To take this picture, I went to the small town of Poʻipū in the southeast of the island. My wife and I arrived there at 5:15 am to enjoy the beautiful sunrise. It was such an amazing experience to hang out at the beach, listen to the ocean waves, and enjoy the smell of the salty water in the cooler morning air.
If you ever plan to go there to take sunrise pictures, I can only recommend not staying at the beach. There is a rock formation to the east, in the direction of the sunrise, that blocks the ocean view. Take the 5-minute stroll up the rock and wait there for the sun to rise from the ocean. It’s such a great experience.
About the Image
The image was taken with my iPhone 17 Pro Max. I used Lightroom on my iPhone to work some image magic and fix the exposure and contrast. I imported it as an HDR version, which gives the image its surreal glow. This emphasizes the warmth of the rising sun and makes the clouds a bit more dramatic.
